SRI Awarded 5-Year Contract for BLM Permian Basin Mitigation Program

In August 2008, Statistical Research, Inc., was awarded a 5-year contract to provide CRM services in support of the New Mexico Bureau of Land Management's Permian Basin Mitigation Program. One of the nation's largest natural oil and gas reserves, the Permian Basin, has witnessed an explosion of CRM inventories in the last 30 years. Unfortunately, even with more than 21,000 inventories and more than 8,000 sites recorded, we have failed to produce significant increases in our knowledge about the past.

In 2005, the SRI Foundation spearheaded an effort to shift compliance from a project-by-project enterprise to a programmatic effort focused less on process and more on outcome. Building on this effort, the Bureau of Land Management, the New Mexico State Historic Preservation Officer, and the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation executed a Memorandum of Agreement that fashioned a creative alternative approach to compliance.

SRI is proud to lead a team that provides a broad range of cultural resource services.  Our partners are the Office of Contract Archeology (OCA), headquartered in Albuquerque, New Mexico; Four Corners Research, Inc. (FCR), headquartered in Tularosa, New Mexico; Red Rock Geological Enterprises (RRGE), headquartered in Santa Fe, New Mexico; and the SRI Foundation (SRIF), headquartered in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.
