Dr. Steve Shelley Joins Statistical Research, Inc.

Statistical Research, Inc. (SRI), welcomes Steven Shelley back to the company as a principal investigator. His primary responsibility will be to lead SRI's team that is conducting archaeological research at Fort Irwin, near the company's Redlands office. Steve was the first employee of Statistical Research when he started with the company in the mid-1980s, and he continued with SRI for over 20 years. Steve has over 30 years of cultural resource management (CRM) experience in the American Southeast, Southwest, California, Great Basin, and Northwest (we may have missed a few regions!) and has conducted all types of CRM work, from monitoring and survey to testing and data recovery. Steve has extensive experience in managing large, complex projects, including multi-site data recovery projects and large archaeological surveys. From 1999 to 2006, Steve played an important role in the Playa Vista Archaeological and Historical Project as the on-site operations manager, coordinating monitoring efforts and offering support to the numerous testing and data recovery projects conducted as part of that large, complex project. Beyond project management and oversight, Steve is a specialist in both lithic and faunal analysis and has conducted numerous and diverse studies on these topics. He received his B.A. from the University of Arizona, his M.A .from Louisiana State University, and his Ph.D. from Washington State University. Steve has extensive experience working on federal lands, particularly military bases, and in assisting clients in complying with both NEPA and Section 106 NHPA standards, which make his new position at Fort Irwin particularly appropriate. Welcome back, Steve!
